Working Towards Prevention, This Dad is Making an Impact

This post is part of our “Dads Making a Difference” series, spotlighting fathers who are an active part of the community and preventing teen substance abuse.

I would like to nominate my husband, Brad Fincher, as a “Dad Making a Difference.” As a father to our two boys, Brad is the best dad any child could ask for! Besides being a positive role model at home, he is also a great influence on our sons’ friends – many of whom do not have a dad in their home. Brad models respect, kindness and compassion.

Brad is also the Probation Officer for our county and serves as the Chairman of the San Juan Island Prevention Coalition. He is always willing to speak up for the rights of our youth in order to make a difference in their future, and he brings these issues to our community’s attention by writing articles to local newspapers. Through Brad’s leadership, our Prevention Coalition has offered many events to promote positive messaging, such as school assemblies, drug education programs and family game nights. The Prevention Coalition has even partnered with the Food for Thought program to host a community dinner, because we know how important it is for teens to eat dinner with their families.

These volunteer efforts have paid off for our community, so yes, we do know a dad making a difference in many kids’ lives – and we are thankful that he is “our dad” in this family!

Sincerely,

Debbi, Zach and Luke Fincher
