Our Final All-Star!
I’m really pleased to announce the final winner of our Five Moms All-Stars contest. She is a mom who has learned how to balance a full-time job with a healthy dose of community involvement at her children’s schools. Please join me in congratulating Melissa Herzog of Woodinville, Washington!
Melissa’s two children are now in college, but she was an active part of their education as the PTA president at their junior and senior high schools. Even though the children are no longer at home, she has continued to research and share information about trends and habits that affect teenagers. At school meetings, she shared articles she found at Five Moms to help educate parents about the dangerous habit of cough medicine abuse.
For her work to educate other parents, we are delighted to honor Melissa as our May All-Star. Congratulations!
Since this is the last month of our search, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who entered their stories. Also, congratulations to all of our winners, on behalf of the Five Moms:
- Rose Mary Kendrick, a D.A.R.E. officer from Sterling, Kansas
- Marilyn Belmonte, an local activist in Burlington, Massachusetts
- Amanda Smith, a clinical nurse who lives in Anna, Illinois
- Gwendolyn Scales, a foster parent from Cleveland, Ohio
- Melissa Herzog, former PTA president from Woodinville, Washington
All the entries we received in the last few months illustrate how people all around the country have taken the Five Moms mission to heart and are working in their communities to help raise awareness about teen cough medicine abuse. Thank you all for your efforts.
